RBI Keeps Repo Rate Unchanged At Record Low Of 4%

Mumbai: Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das said on Friday that the Monetary Policy Committee of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has unanimously voted to keep the policy repo rate unchanged at 4 per cent.

Das said, “The Monetary Policy Committee met on 3, 4 and 5 February and considered both economic and financial growth both in domestic and global growth and developing. The MPC voted unanimously to leave the policy repo rate unchanged at 4 per cent,” said Das.

“It has also been unanimously decided to continue with the aggressive stance of monetary policy until the current fiscal year and in the next year to revive growth on a sustainable basis and reduce the impact of COVID-19 Until next year, inflation remains within the target of moving forward,” he said.

The RBI governor stated that the marginal standing facility rate and the bank rate remain unchanged at 4.25 per cent, while the reverse repo rate is unchanged at 3.35 per cent. This is the first monetary policy discussed by the RBI Governor after the presentation of the Union Budget 2021-22.
