Red And Orange Alert By IMD, Heavy Rain To HIt Kerala

Mumbai: Red and Orange alert has been announced by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in various parts of Kerala for July 18, 19 and 20.

While IMD has issued a red alert in Idukki district for July 18 and July 19, a red alert has been issued for Malappuram district on July 19 and 20. Apart from this, the Red Alert has been seen on 20th July in Wayanad and Kannur districts too. All these districts will have very heavy rains.

A red alert is the most alert for issuing heavy rain warnings and the IMD does not currently follow any other mode to indicate a serious warning.

Ernakulam and Palakkad and Orange alerts have been planted in Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts on July 18 in Idukki, Kottayam.

On July 17 in Idukki, Kottayam, July 18 in Ernakulam and Palakkad and Orange Alerts have been installed in Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts.

The orange alert reminds public and government machinery to be careful.

The IMD has warned of heavy winds on the Malabar coast. According to the IMD, wind speed across the coast can reach 40 to 50 kilometres per hour.

IMD also cautioned fishermen not to venture into the sea.
