RIL to pay 5 Yrs’ Salary To Families Of Staff Who Died Of COVID-19

Mumbai: Reliance Industries has announced that it will continue to provide the last drawn monthly salary for a period of five years to the families of employees who have died of COVID-19.

Reliance further said in a statement that under the ‘Reliance Family Support and Welfare Scheme’, it will fully fund the tuition fees, hostel accommodation and books of all the children of the employee in any institution in India up to graduation degree. It also promised to pay 100 per cent of the premium for hospitalization for spouse, parents and children (up to graduation degree).

“Further, all colleagues affected by COVID-19 personally or within their family can avail the special COVID-19 leave for the full duration of their recovery, both physically and emotionally,” the statement, signed by Reliance Industries Chairperson Mukesh Ambani and Reliance Foundation’s founder and chairperson Nita Ambani, said.

They said the leave policy is in place to ensure that co-workers ‘focus only on making a full recovery or taking care of their family members.

The statement read, “Dear Colleague… We have come this far together on the strength of our solidarity as a team and with an ownership mindset that will sustain this adversity until we win.”

In another statement, the Reliance Foundation promised a lumpsum payment of Rs 10 lakhs to all bereaving families of the off-roll workforce. “A lump sum payment of Rs 10 lakh directly to the nominee of the deceased to support and care for the grieving family,” it said
