RSS Urges People To ‘Accept The Verdict’ And Maintain Harmony, Over Ayodhya Dispute

Mumbai: The Ayodhya dispute is a political, historical and socio-religious debate in India, centred on a plot of land in the city of Ayodhya, located in Faizabad district, Uttar Pradesh. The issues revolve around the control of a site traditionally regarded among Hindus to be the birthplace of the Hindu deity Rama, the history and location of the Babri Masjid at the site, and whether a previous Hindu temple was demolished or modified to create the mosque.

This might appear, to many, as simple Hindus versus Muslim case. But Ayodhya case is far more complicated than a Hindu versus Muslim case. This is also evident from the arguments placed before the Supreme Court in the past few weeks.

In view of the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Ram Janmabhumi-Babri Masjid title dispute case on November 17, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has cancelled all its programmes lined up for the month of November and has asked its workers to cancel their touring schedules as well and arranged the high-profile meeting of its leaders – Mohan Bhagwat, Bhayyaji Joshi and others to discuss the plan of action following the Supreme Court (SC) decision over the matter. BJP party president Amit Shah and working president JP Nadda were also expected to attend the meeting.

RSS said that the organisation is being very cautious with regards to the Ayodhya case. They said, “after the verdict, in case something happens, then the blame should not be pinned on them.”

Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi concluded the hearing in the case on October 16. A verdict in the case is expected before November 17, when CJI Gogoi retires.

RSS tweeted that, “In the coming days, the Supreme Court’s decision on the construction of the temple on Shri Ram Janmabhoomi is likely to come. Whatever the verdict, it should be accepted with an open mind. Maintaining an atmosphere of harmony throughout the country is everyone’s responsibility. The subject is also being discussed in the meeting.”

“Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has cancelled all its programmes lined up for the month of November and has asked its workers to cancel their touring schedules as well,” the tweet added.

Construction will begin from the 6 December, it was the verdict of MP Sakshi Maharaj, “The construction of Ram temple will commence before December 6. I want to thank the Supreme Court as it has heard non-stop for 40 days the matter that was pending for 150 years and after seriously hearing both the sides has reserved the judgement,” she confidently told reporters.

The RSS’s “Pracharaks” have been instructed to remain in their respective centres, and to move only after being instructed from the top. Sources though said the movement gag would not apply to the top brass.
