Run Special Trains For Migrants In Maha After Lockdown: Deputy CM To Goyal

Mumbai: Immediately after the lockdown ends, the migrant workers stuck in Maharashtra should be repatriated to their respective places and for this, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar asked Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to run special train services from Mumbai and Pune to different places of the country.

Writing a letter to the Railway Minister, Pawar said that migrant workers stranded in various parts of their state could go out in large numbers to return to their states, when train services would resume after the lockdown was lifted on 3 May.

“This could lead to law and order problems (with a large number of working workers),” he wrote in the letter, demanding the Ministry of Railways to run special trains for him.

Ajit Pawar, who is also the Finance Minister of Maharashtra, said that the state government has made arrangements for housing and food for migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and other states.
