Russia’s Sergey Lavrov Meets PM Narendra Modi, Jaishankar

India and Russia have developed a special and privileged strategic partnership over the years

Mumbai: In a recent development, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister also met Jaishankar.

“Pleasure as always to meet FM Sergey Lavrov of Russia. Wide-ranging conversation on recent developments. Reflected the comfort of our long-standing friendship,” Jaishankar tweeted.

During his address at the Raisina Dialogue 2020, Lavrov advocated the permanent seats of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for countries including India and Brazil, and said that developing countries should be given “adequate representation”.

He further said that India and Russia have developed a special and privileged strategic partnership over the years.

“Russia and India signed a declaration of strategic partnership 20 years ago. A few years ago, our Indian friends proposed a special and privileged strategic partnership to our relationship. We have such relations with all countries in the region. Want to develop and we hope that our Indian friends will propagate the same ideology, ”he said.

The Raisina Dialogue is a result of India’s contribution to global efforts to find solutions in India, identify opportunities and provide the stability to look at an event in a century for two decades.

The three-day conference saw 700 international participants, with 40 per cent of the speakers being women, emphasizing India’s commitment to gender unity.
