S-490 Missile System Will Be Delivered To India In Next 18-19 Months From Russia

Mumbai: In a recent development, S-400 air defence missile systems will be delivered to India in strict accordance with the schedule.

Speaking to Rossiya-1, Borisov said, “The advance payment has been received and everything will be delivered in strict accordance with the schedule, within about 18-19 months.”

Earlier on 19th India-Russia Annual Bilateral Summit in New Delhi last year India had signed a USD 5.43-billion deal with Russia for the purchase of five S-400 systems.

A few months ago, the US made suggestions for India to seek an alternative to the S-400 missile system, as Russia transacted with the risk that triggered CAATSA (via sanctions to US advisers Restriction Act). In addition, India was also offered by the US as an alternative to the S-400 the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) and Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC-3) missile defense systems.

Meanwhile, it has also been reported that top Pentagon officials official also stated that America is willing to build a “much deeper and broader relationship” with India. Therefore, the US discussed a potential missile defense collaboration with India.

In particular, the United States is India’s second-largest arms supplier. It already recognizes India as a “major defense partner,” a position that facilitates the US to share technology with India.
