Salim Merchant And Jonita Gandhi’s Camaraderie Reflects On Screen As They Recreate ‘Galliyan’ and ‘Dil Mein Ho Tum’, Only On T-Series MixTape Season 2

The fourth episode from MixTape Season 2 releases today exclusively on T-Series Youtube Channel

Mumbai: The Indian-born-Canadian-singer Jonita Gandhi and the evergreen Salim Merchant pair up for a charismatic performance for the 4th episode of T-Series MixTape Season 2, presented by Amazon Prime Music.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, this episode beautifully recreates two timeless songs ‘Dil Mein Ho Tum’ from the movie Why Cheat India along with the record-breaking song ‘Galliyan’ from the movie Ek Villain.

The fourth episode of Mixtape is a powerful melange of melody and rhythm combined with two incredible singers Salim Merchant and Jonita Gandhi. Featuring talented instrumentalists for percussion, rhythm, strings, the episode starts with a solo cello to set the mood of the song. Adding the right vibe, Salim and Jonita voices blend harmoniously and their chemistry on stage reflects their long-lasting friendship too.

Talking about a concept like MixTape Salim Merchant further shares, “I was a part of season 1 too and had no idea that it would receive such a tremendous response. I like properties like MixTape as it has created a different audience in itself. It allows us to express our music, vocals and represent the song in our own personality, which is really nice. Respect should be given to Abhijit Vaghani who has done a brilliant job working on all the songs.”

He further adds, “I am performing along with Jonita Gandhi on the songs ‘Galliyan’ and ‘Dil Mein Ho Tum’. There is a very unique element in the song where we both sing Galliyan in harmony together and our voices blend beautifully. That’s something that should be checked out! Jonita and I share a cool rapport. We have worked together on stage, in studios and now on MixTape, so we share a great comfort level.

Jonita Gandhi shares, “This is feel-easy version. There are a lot of elements incorporated in terms of percussion, rhythm, strings. There is a cello solo at the beginning which is unique. We are going to be featuring amazing talent in terms of instrumentalists. This song has got a nice Bollywood to feel to it which I like. Additionally, the song is very high. So finding the right key when more than one person is singing is a challenge. We had to find the key that suited Salim and me the best. Initially, it was a little tough for me to sing that high because I am not used to it anymore. If given an option I would prefer singing lower.”

Commenting on mixing two timeless songs, Music Director Abhijit Vaghani shares, “Galliyan and Dil Mein Ho Tum has some massive music pieces. This time we have concentrated a lot on music. I have managed to create a groove which is more like using a Puneri dhol but creating a Tyco drum.”

Catch the fourth episode today in the voices Salim and Jonita only on T-Series Youtube Channel, directed by Ahmed Khan and conceptualized and developed by Shivam Chanana and Sonal Chawla. Also, listen to the song on Amazon Prime Music ad-free for a voice-enabled listening experience.
