A Facebook account under the name “Shubbu Lonkar Maharashtra” posted a message claiming responsibility for the killing and accusing Bollywood actor Salman Khan of triggering a “war.” The post read:

“Salman Khan, we never wanted this war, but you caused harm to our brother. Today, whether it’s under the respect of Baba Siddique’s protection or an act with Dawood during that time, the purpose was to link Anuj Thapan and Dawood with Bollywood, politics, and property dealings upon his death. We have no enmity with anyone, but whoever helps Salman Khan and Dawood’s gang will have to keep their accounts clear. If any harm comes to our brother, we will surely respond, though we never attacked first. Jai Shri Ram, Jai Bharat. Salute to the martyrs. #LawrenceBishnoiGroup #AnmolBishnoi #AnkitBhaduSherewala”
Siddique was known to have close ties with Salman Khan, who has been a target of the Bishnoi gang since 1999. The politician had actively sought enhanced security for Khan after the actor began receiving threats. The Bishnoi gang holds Salman responsible for the killing of a blackbuck, an animal considered sacred by the Bishnoi community, in 1998.
Two Shooters Arrested, Hunt for Third Accused Underway
The shooting took place during Dussehra festivities and involved three men. Two suspects – Gurmail Baljit Singh (23) from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap (19) from Uttar Pradesh – have been arrested. Police are still searching for the third assailant, identified as Shivkumar, who is believed to have orchestrated the murder conspiracy.
Mumbai Police, along with state police and central agencies, have launched a manhunt for the third accused, with raids underway in various locations.
Lawrence Bishnoi’s Longstanding Feud with Salman Khan
Salman Khan has been on Lawrence Bishnoi’s hit list since his involvement in the 1999 Blackbuck poaching case. Bishnoi, who is currently imprisoned in Gujarat, had earlier confessed to targeting Khan in a statement recorded by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The Bishnoi gang had previously made ransom calls to businessmen and carried out violent attacks, both in India and abroad.
In a high-profile incident earlier this year, two shooters fired shots outside Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartment in Bandra, allegedly on orders from Bishnoi. Additionally, the gang was behind an attack outside the residence of Punjabi singer AP Dhillon in Vancouver, after the singer released a music video featuring Khan.
Salman Khan has received multiple death threats from the gang, with warnings that he would face the same fate as slain singer Sidhu Moosewala. Police continue to investigate the gang’s operations and its connection to Siddique’s murder.
