Sanjay Raut’s Wife Received Rs 55L From Wife Of PMC Bank Scam Accused: Enforcement Directorate

Mumbai: Enforcement Directorate (ED) said that Sanjay Raut’s wife, Varsha received an interest-free loan of ₹55 lakh from PMC Bank money laundering case accused Praveen Raut’s wife Madhuri.

“No documents or agreements were made in support of these payments made to Praveen Raut. Further, as per the leadership of HDIL, funds were given to Praveen Raut for the acquisition of land in Palghar area. The investigation also revealed that Praveen Raut paid an amount of Rs 1.6 crore to his wife Madhuri Pravin Raut from the proceeds of crime,” said the ED.

ED officials claim that Praveen Raut embezzled Rs 95 crore through illegally obtained loans and advances in the name of Housing Development Infrastructure Ltd (HDIL) from PMC Bank.

The amount was used to buy a flat in Dadar east of Mumbai. The investigation has revealed that Varsha Sanjay Raut and Madhuri Praveen Raut are partners in M/s Avani Construction. Varsha Sanjay Raut has received 12 lakhs from this unit. (As overdrawn capital has converted into debt) at a contribution of just Rs 5625. The loan amount of Rs 12 lakh is still outstanding,” the ED said.

Varsha Raut has been summoned by the ED to appear for questioning on January 5.

The ED on Friday attached properties worth Rs 72 crore linked to Pravin Raut under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA) in the PMC Bank scam, officials said.
