Satwiksairaj Rankireddy And Chirag Shetty Enters Men’s Doubles Finals In Thailand Open 2019

Mumbai: India’s Sarwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated the South Korean duo and bagged a place in duels of Thailand Opens 2019 Finals. Ko Sung Hyun and Shin Baek Cheol fought brilliantly with the Indian pair but had to face defeat with a vast difference in the third round.

The Indian pair took the first game with a score of 22-20 and second game was brilliantly taken over by south Koreans with 24-22 but in the third and decision-making match, the Indian players defeated the opposite team with a whopping difference between the score 21-9 thus securing a place in finals. Before this, the duo had also played an excellent game against their Korean counterparts in the quarterfinal. The scores were 21-17, 17-21, 21-19.

Another unseeded combination of Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa lost in straight games as the third seeds of Japan Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino proved to be more powerful. And the match was concluded within 28 minutes.

Whereas Saina Nehwal the seventh-seeded Indian player was defeated by a seventeen-year-old Japanese player Sayaka Takahashi who in the beginning appeared to lose the match but returned with amazing scores. In the second game, the score was 16-2, Saina trailing behind for scores. The third game was led by Sayaka and Saina was thus knocked out of the game.
