SC Approves Draft BCCI Constitution, Dumps ‘One State, One Vote’

Mumbai : In a relief to BCCI, Supreme Court accepted the draft constitution prepared by the Lodha panel. They have endorsed some abatement, giving full membership to Mumbai Cricket Association, Vidarbha and Railways.

The SC also acquired the ‘One State One Vote’ policy suggested by the Lodha Panel and granted membership to Saurashtra, Vadodara, Mumbai and Vidarbha cricket association. The court even rehabilitated full BCCI membership of Railways, Services and Association of Universities, which were abandoned on recommendations of the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha panel.

The court has now said that cooling-off period would kick in only after two consecutive terms.

Justice Dipak Misra headed the Supreme Court’s three-judge bench were he granted four weeks’ time to list the new constitution of BCCI with Tamil Nadu Registrar of Societies.

The court also asked to adopt BCCI constitution to the state cricket associations within 30 days, as per the order intimate by the SC-appointed Committee of Administration (COA).
