SC Issued Notice Against Maharshtra CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai :  Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis received notice from Supreme Court, on the petition demanding his qualification as a legislator for not revealing, in the 2014 Census, two criminal cases pending against him.

After hearing the petition filed by social worker and lawyer Satish Ukey, the notice issued to the Chief, claiming that he had concealed in two criminal cases of fraud and pending defamation against him in the Maharashtra election affidavit of 2014.

However, Fadnavis stated that “The notice has served today by SC is ‘notice before admission’ and details will be furnished by him whereas earlier the High Court had dismissed this petition calling it meritless.”

Earlier, the court of Judicial Magistrate in Nagpur had rejected the petition. Ukey contacted the session court, who directed the judicial magistrate to reconsider his decision.  After which the Chief Minister went to the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court to challenge the court’s decision, which turned against him. Then the social worker challenged the Bombay High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court
