SC To Pass Order On Plea Against Maharashtra Govt Formation

Mumbai: The supreme court is all set to pass it’s a decision over a joint petition filed by Shiv Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party against the decision of the Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to invite BJP to form the government in the state.

In an intense battle for numbers among rival camps, the three parties paraded 162 MLAs in a show of strength as the legislators swore not to fall prey to any sign by the BJP.

This comes after, BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the state’s chief minister for the second consecutive time on Saturday morning, with NCP’s Ajit Pawar sworn in as deputy chief minister.

In its petition before the Supreme Court, Shiv Sena and NCP have urged the court to stop the Devendra Fadnavis government from taking major policy decisions.

The petition also sought a stay on the Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau’s move to close cases in the irrigation scam.

A bench of Justices N V Ramana, Ashok Bhushan, and Sanjiv Khanna on Monday heard the arguments put forth by the counsel appearing for Governor, Maharashtra BJP and other parties and reserved its order.

The Shiv Sena said on Tuesday about the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the Governor of Maharashtra that one Bhagat Singh was hanged for independence, another “hanged” democracy in the dark of night.

An editorial in the Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ said what would be the position of Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on the letter of support submitted by the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress for the claim of forming the government after the alliance “162 MLAs” in a hotel here.

“When we gave a clear indication that the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance has 162 MLAs, what was the basis on which Governor Koshiyari last week invited Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar to be sworn in as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. Did.? “Shiv Sena asked.

On Monday, NCP legislative party leader Jayant Patil along with Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan and others visited Raj Bhawan and gave a letter showing the strength of 162 MLAs to the officials at Raj Bhavan.
