Schemes Not Just On Paper: PM Modi Hails Bharuch’s Utkarsh Initiative

Mumbai: PM Narendra Modi on Thursday lauded the ‘Utkarsh Initiative’ by Gujarat’s Bharuch district, under which financial assistance was provided to widows, elderly and destitute citizens.

The event was organised to mark the 100 per cent saturation of four key state government schemes in the district which will help provide timely financial assistance to those in need, according to PMO.

The district administration had launched a special drive – “Utkarsh Pahal” – from January 1 to March 31 this year, with an aim to ensure full coverage of schemes providing assistance to widows, elderly and destitute citizens.

A total of 12,854 beneficiaries were identified in four schemes – Ganga Swaroop Financial Assistance Scheme, Indira Gandhi Vriddha Sahayata Yojana, Niradhar Vriddha Sahayata Yojana and Rashtriya Kutumb Sahayata Yojana.

Before addressing the programme, PM Modi interacted with the beneficiaries of the ‘Utkarsh Initiative’ and explained how the schemes by the state governments and how it is shaping their lives.

PM Modi addressed the Utkarsh function after interacting with the beneficiaries and appreciated the achievement of the Bharuch administration under the guidance of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupinder Patel.

PM Modi said that this achievement has set a benchmark for others. He also said that he appreciated the efforts of the leaders who ensured that the schemes reach every individual and take it to the saturation point.

The state government also shared taluka-wise WhatsApp helpline numbers for people to register complaints or queries related to the schemes or if they are not getting benefits.

Utkarsh camps were organized in all the villages and wards of the municipality area of ​​the district to provide the necessary documents to the applicants for on-the-spot approval. The PMO said that Utkarsh Sahayaks were also encouraged to take the campaign forward.
