The education minister had earlier said that a decision on reopening schools for classes 6 to 8 would be taken after August 15.

Schools will reopen following all SOPs issued by the state and central government for reopening. Maintaining social distancing in classrooms and outside school premises, use of face masks and sanitisers is mandatory for all students, teachers and non-teaching staff.

The state government had already opened schools for classes 9 to 11 before July 26. The government had decided to allocate 50 per cent capacity with all coronavirus-related guidelines. The government said that students who are willing to attend physical classes will have to submit a consent form from their parents.
