Section 144 Imposed In Mumbai Till 17th May

Mumbai: After an order released on Monday, 4th May, Section 144 has been imposed in Mumbai from 8 pm to 7 am in the morning till 17th May 2020.

The order prohibits the movement of people on the above mentioned time for non-essential services, except for medical reasons according to the ANI.

On 4th May, a number of liquor shops were opened that attracted a huge number of people waiting in the queue. According to the State Health Department, the cases increased by 510 in Mumbai, taking the toll to 9,310.

The social media criticized the Government and hence the step is being taken to tackle the situation in Mumbai.

The nationwide lockdown was extended by the MHA, wherein, the cities were divided into Red, Orange and Green zones. Mumbai comes under the Red Zone and thus extra measures have to be taken for the containment of Covid-19.

With 771 cases and 35 deaths reported in 24 hours, Maharashtra witnessed a total of 14,541 Covid-19 cases and the death toll stands at 583 as of 4th May 2020.
