‘Sena-Congress Alliance Strong Despite Having Different Views On Issues’, Aaditya Thackeray

Many leaders of political parties insisted Savarkar for the Bharat Ratna Award

Mumbai: Following the ongoing controversy among the Shiv Sena and Congress alliance in Maharashtra over conferring Bharat Ratna to Veer Savarkar, Sena leader Aditya Thackeray asserted that their alliance with Congress is strong despite having a different stance on certain issues.

Thackeray told media persons here, “In what context did Sanjay Raut speak. The Shiv Sena-Congress alliance is strong and we have come together for the development of the state. We can have different views on some issues but this is what democracy is Believe it.”

His remarks came hours after Raut retaliated strongly against those who opposed Bharat Ratna for Veer Savarkar and said that such people should be jailed for two days.

Many leaders of political parties insisted Savarkar for the Bharat Ratna Award.

On the other hand, Congress again raised controversy over Sarvarkar’s name. Recently, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi refused to apologize for the “rape in India” remark, saying his nickname was Gandhi, not Savarkar.

Reacting on this, Thackeray urged people to talk about current issues like plummeting GDP and unemployment instead of history. “We should learn from history and move forward,” he added.
