Senior BJP Leader and Former Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi Passes Away at 72

Mumbai: Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Sushil Kumar Modi, breathed his last on Monday at the age of 72. His demise follows a battle with cancer, which he had disclosed in April this year, announcing his decision not to contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections due to his declining health.
The mortal remains of the former Rajya Sabha MP will be brought to his residence in Patna’s Rajendra Nagar area tomorrow, May 14, where the final rites will be performed later in the day.
Expressing condolences, Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha remarked, “He will always be remembered for his organization skills, administrative understanding and his deep knowledge on social political issues.”
“May God grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family in this hour of grief,” Sinha added.
Modi, a seasoned politician, was enlisted by the BJP as one of its star campaigners for the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar. However, on April 3, Modi disclosed his cancer diagnosis, revealing that he had informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about his health condition and subsequently declared his decision to refrain from participating in the BJP’s campaign for the upcoming elections.
Sushil Kumar Modi’s demise marks the end of an era in Bihar politics, leaving behind a legacy of service and commitment to the people. As the state mourns the loss of one of its stalwart leaders, tributes pour in from across the political spectrum, honoring his contributions and remembering his dedication to public service.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
