Shami Credits NCA For His Overall Return

Mumbai: Mohammad Shami who is selected for the 15 Men squad for the upcoming World Cup which will start from May 30, 2019, has credited the efforts of the Management for his journey till here.

In 2015, Shami was the second highest wicket taker with 17 scalps, who suffered from weight gain after that and had not played one-day matches for two years.

“I’m very happy that I’ve got a second chance in the World Cup as well as I feel like as I was in my early career. As I was in 2015 with regards to confidence, I’ve observed an increase in confidence which I would like to make ahead for my team,” Shami said.

“I’m very much happy as I am feeling in rhythm, I’ve put down weight and it feels really good and being into a perfect rhythm for me. However, I didn’t play cricket for long but have played it recently in the past six months.”

“I’ve worked down with the coaches and they guided me whenever required and the results are in front. I tried to improve my fitness and the team NCA (National Cricket Academy) backed me up,” he added.

IPL has taught him to be mentally and physically fit and be prepared for the 50 overs match.

“IPL, it helps you in mentally as well as physically in the game and become very well prepared for the World Cup,” he said.

The World Cup is scheduled from May 30 to July 14. India to play against Bangladesh and New Zealand in the warm-ups before heading up to South Africa on June 5th at Hampshire Bowl.
