Sharman Joshi’s Actor Father Arvind Joshi Dies At 84

Mumbai: Famous Gujarati actor and actor Sharman Joshi’s father Arvind Joshi died on Friday due to age-related issues. He was 84 years old.

Joshi’s sister-in-law and veteran actor Sarita Joshi told PTI that Joshi died in Nanavati Hospital around 3.30 am on Friday.

“He was suffering from neurological issues and had a chest infection. He was in the ICU for more than a week in the hospital,” a hospital source told PTI.

Actor Paresh Rawal took to Twitter and said passing away of Joshi is an “irreparable loss to Indian theatre”.

“Irreparable loss to Indian theatre; with grief, we say goodbye to the noted actor Shri Arvind Joshi. A stalwart, a versatile actor, an accomplished thespian, are the words that come to mind when I think of his performances. My condolences to @TheSharmanJoshi & family. Aum Shanti,” he wrote.

The veteran actor was cremated at Vile Parle crematorium here in the presence of close family members.

Joshi was also known for acting in Hindi films, such as the Sanskari classic “Sholay”, “Love Marriage” and “Naam”.

In Gujarati cinema, she acted in films like “Garvo Garasio” and “Gher Gher Matina Chula”. He was also a well-known name in Gujarati theatre.

Joshi is survived by his wife and two children, Sharman and Mansi, both actors. He was the brother-in-law of actor Sarita Joshi and uncle of actor Ketaki Dave.

On social media, many film personalities expressed their condolences to Joshi’s family.
