Mumbai: Sad news for Indian cricket fans as opening batsmen for team India Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of ICC World Cup due to a thumb injury.

Dhawan suffered a hairline fracture during his match-winning 117 against Australia at The Oval on June 9.

India has made a fantastic start to its World Cup campaign. They have won against South Africa, Australia and Pakistan while the game was washed against New Zealand.

Shikhar Dhawan battled hard with pain against Australia, making India a recognized champion. He was seen during training at the gym and was spotted on the field during India’s net session before the high-voltage struggle against Pakistan in Old Trafford.

Shikhar is a successful batting champion for India, he had a good opening partnership with Sharma, he has six hundred in ICC tournaments: 3 Champions Trophy and 3 World Cups.

Meanwhile, Rishabh pant has been included in the squad, another dangerous batsmen in middle-order but was left out of India’s original World Cup squad as the selectors decided to go with Dinesh Karthik as the second wicketkeeper.
