Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut Sent To ED Custody Till August 4

Mumbai: A special court on Monday granted the custody of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) till August 4 in connection with the Patra Chawl land scam case.

The central probe agency today produced Raut in a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court amid tight security. The ED had arrested the Shiv Sena leader in a money laundering case related to the redevelopment of a chawl in the Maharashtra capital.

The Enforcement Directorate had appealed to the court for eight days’ custody of Sanjay Raut, however, the court had ordered only four days’ custody.

Raut was arrested this morning by the ED after raiding Raut’s residence in the alleged Patra rice land scam case worth Rs 1,034 crore.

The 61-year-old is considered a close aide of Uddhav Thackeray and the spokesperson of Shiv Sena and executive editor of the newspapers of the Saamana group.
