Shubham Gill Becomes India’s 227th Cricketer

Mumbai: Right-hand batsmen Shubham Gill has become India’s 227th cricketer to represent team India in ODI cricket.

The 19 year old received his median ODI cap from India’s former captain MS Dhoni.

Earlier Shubham was also drafted into India’s Under-19 side as the vice captain of the team. Shubman scored 418 runs at an average of 104.50 at the 2018 ICC U-19 World Cup, where he batted at number three to play a crucial role in India’s record fourth world title and was adjudged the edition’s Player of the Tournament.

Gill made his cricket debut in Vijay Hazare Trophy on 25 February 2017, played for Punjab. He made his first class debut for Punjab in 2017-18 Ranji Trophy. Later the same month, in his second first-class match, he scored his maiden century, batting for Punjab against Service.

In January 2018, he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹1.8 crore (US$250,000) in the 2018 IPL auction. He made his Twenty 20 debut for Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2018 Indian Premier League on 14 April 2018.

In January 2019, Gill was added to India’s squad for the limited-overs leg for their series against New Zealand. He played his Debut ODI match against New Zealand at Hamilton, New Zealand on 31st Jan 2019 .
