Sidhu Invites 60 Punjab Congress MLAs To His Home, Takes Them To Golden Temple

Mumbai: Amid infighting in Punjab Congress, newly appointed state party chief Navjot Singh Sidhu invited over 60 MLAs to his Amritsar residence. Later, the MLAs were taken to the Golden Temple in luxury buses from his residence in an apparent show of support.

According to his office, Sidhu had invited party MLAs for breakfast.

In a tweet yesterday, Amarinder Singh’s media advisor had said, “Will not meet CM Sidhu until he publicly apologizes for the social media attacks against him.”

The MLAs at Sidhi’s residence said the party was united and there was no need to apologize. Congress MLA Pargat Singh said, “Why should Sidhu apologize (to the CM)? This is not a public issue. The CM has not resolved many issues. In such a situation, he should also apologize to the public.”

MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur said, “I am confident that we will win the 2022 assembly elections because of Sidhu. CM’s advisors are misleading him. Because of this Punjab is lagging behind.”

“The day Sidhu was appointed as the President of Punjab Party, Congress got around 5 per cent votes. The youth who left Congress and joined the AAP party came back because of this. I am sure Sidhu got at least 20 per cent votes. Get votes because this will increase Congress.

Jalalpur also said that the party and the CM have to work together to be successful. Referring to the Punjab CM’s tweet, he said that Sidhu should not apologise as it is the duty of the CM to address the concerns of the people of his state, even if it is against him.

He said, “Sidhu is no longer just Sidhu, he is the president of Punjab Congress. He has nothing to apologize for. However, yes, Sidhu should respect him as he is a father figure to all of us.”
