Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh Meet Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram In Tihar Jail
Mumbai: Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday in Tihar Jail, senior party leader P.P. Met Chidambaram, where he is lodged in INX Media money laundering case.
Chidambaram, who was arrested by the CBI on 21 August, is currently in judicial custody in Tihar Jail for 5 years.
P Chidambaram’s son and Lok Sabha MP Karti Chidambaram also met his father in jail along with Congress leaders. It should be noted that Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh have visited the jail premises for the first time to meet any party leader.
After the meeting, Karti Chidambaram told the media, “My father and my family today express gratitude to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former PM Manmohan Singh and for extending their support. It is very much for us in this political fight Is a big achievement. “
Former finance minister Chidambaram is facing investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for alleged irregularities in sanctioning INX Media worth Rs 305 crore in 2007.
