South Africa Variant Of COVID-19 Under Watch; No Cases In India Yet: Govt

Mumbai: Member (Health) of NITI Aayog, Dr VK Paul said on Tuesday that no case of a South African version of the COVID-19 virus has been found so far in the country. “The South Africa version of COVID19 is subject to view. It has come forward that this version spreads rapidly.”

As of yesterday, this special edition is not in the country, Dr Paul said while addressing a press conference. The Union Health Ministry said that 15 States and union territories have not reported any death linked to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the last 24 hours.

The Union Health Ministry stated that 15 states and union territories have not reported any deaths related to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours.

Dr Paul also shared his thoughts on the progress of the COVID-19 vaccination program in the country and said, “We can say with confidence that the strategy to implement the vaccination program and the experience of vaccination are now consistent, very high for people to evaluate.”

Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that 97 per cent of people are satisfied with the overall vaccination experience. Bhushan said that 63,10,194 beneficiaries, including healthcare and frontline workers, have been vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine so far.

According to the Union Health Ministry, there are 1,43,635 active COVID-19 cases, 10,54,8,521 discharged and 15,5,158 deaths due to the disease.
