SP Promises 300 Units Of Electricity Free To Domestic Users In UP

Mumbai: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday promised to provide 300 units of electricity free to domestic consumers if the party is voted to power in the upcoming UP polls.

The latest poll promise comes weeks ahead of the crucial assembly elections in the Yogi Adityanath-led state.

The SP chief said 300 units of free electricity to domestic consumers and free electricity for irrigation to farmers would be the “number one promise” in the manifesto to be formally released soon.

Yadav explained, “Applicants should fill the name mentioned in their electricity bill while filling the form to take advantage of the scheme.”

He said that party workers would go door-to-door to get the forms filled from tomorrow.

Speaking on the SP’s manifesto for the upcoming elections, Akhilesh said that the party’s manifesto has taken into account the suggestions of various communities like the general public, doctors, traders and farmers.

Among other election promises, the Samajwadi Party has announced Rs 25 lakh to the families of farmers killed in agrarian agitation, minimum support price on all crops, interest-free loans, insurance and pension to farmers, Rs 5 lakh to cyclists who die. ₹5 lakh to those killed in road accidents and those killed in bull attacks.

Voting for the 403-seat assembly of Uttar Pradesh is to be held in seven phases on February 10.

Polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, March 3 and March 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
