Stop Worrying About Team Selection And Other Nonsense: ABD To Fans After India’s Win

Mumbai: After India defeated England in The Oval Test on Monday, Former South Africa cricketer and Kohli’s RCB teammate AB de Villiers has also shut the people down who criticised India’s team selection repeatedly throughout this series and especially during The Oval Test.

He felt that as the spectators of Test format, the critics should not worry about unnecessary things and just enjoy the beautiful game. Also Read: Glad That I Could Get Team Into Important Position: Rohit Sharma On 127(256)

A lot was said after the India captain announced the team change at the toss for the fourth Test against England at The Oval. The visitors had benched off-spinner Ravi Ashwin for the fourth consecutive Test of the series and he scored 6/27 in the second innings while playing for Surrey in July. A lot has been said about Ashwin’s dismissal in the last five days and many even thought that India would miss him on the last day.

Well, Kohli won the fight in the end as his changes came out right in the end. Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur, who came into this Test, performed brilliantly while Ravindra Jadeja did well enough to pick up a few wickets and trigger a collapse on the final day. Even after the match, Kohli clarified that every decision the team takes is a collective one and they don’t pay any attention to the ‘outside noise’. Also Read: I Always Believed I Had The Ability To Bat: Shardul Thakur

“As “spectators” of Test Cricket, just stop worrying about team selection and other nonsense and start appreciating the competition, passion, skill and patriotism unfolding in front of your eyes. You’re missing a good game!” De Villiers wrote in his tweet.

AB de Villiers also lauded Team India for showing excellent fighting spirit to come back from tough conditions and win the Test. He also praised Virat Kohli for leading the team well and pointed out the performance of some other players. The 37-year-old also praised the England team for putting up a great fight over the course of five days and is now looking forward to the fifth and final Test.

“Well played India, well Captained @imVkohli and amazing skill and guts from a few individuals. Also well played @root66 & England! Great ad for our beautiful game! Excited for the finale,” De Villiers wrote in his second tweet.

Indian bowlers delivered big time on the last day of the fourth Test at the Kennington Oval on Monday as the genius of mercurial Jasprit Bumrah, and all-round performance by ShardulThakur in the match helped visitors in defeating England by 157 runs to gain a 2-1 in the five-match series.
