Students Of Classes 5, 8 And 10 to be Promoted Without Exams, Says Punjab CM

Mumbai: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh announced that all PSEB students of classes 5, 8 and 10 will be promoted to the next class without taking any examination.

PSEB Class 12 exams, which have already been postponed, a decision would be taken later based on the emerging Covid-19 situation, says CM.

The Punjab class 10 and class 12 board exams were supposed to begin on April 9 and March 22 respectively but were postponed on March 15.

It was decided to shift the Punjab class 10 board exam commencing date from May 4 to May 24, and the class 12 board exam commencing date from April 20 to May 24.

The chief minister took these decisions during a virtual Covid review meeting with top officials and medical experts in Chandigarh.

However, Captain Amarinder Singh said while the state has closed all educational institutions till April 30, bringing down the positivity in the 11-20 age group, relief is needed to be provided to schoolchildren going for exams.
