Sunny Leone Reacts To Cheating Case; Says Half-Baked Information Is “As Dangerous As Misreporting”

Mumbai: After an event organiser alleged that he paid actress Sunny Leone ₹29 lakh but she didn’t turn up for events in Kerala, the actress refuted the cheating claims.

She said that half-baked information is “as dangerous as misreporting”.

Last week, Sunny was interrogated by Kerala police at a private resort in Thiruvananthapuram. He was questioned after a complaint filed by an event manager in Kochi in an alleged fraud case.

Shiyas conducting events in and around Kochi. The Shiyas had filed a complaint with the Kerala DGP alleging that Sunny had taken Rs 29 lakh from them, promising to attend various inaugurations in the state, but failed to do so. The case relates to the 2019 incident. She has now accused the organizers of sharing misinformation and hopes the law will take its course.

“Half the information is just as dangerous as getting it wrong. And it’s yet another case. I want to set the record straight,” Sunny said.

“As an artist, work is worship for me. I was nothing but an organizer with a sense of moving my program at various times. But they would not commit to a set date. It is customary that to lock an actor’s time, an advance has to be paid upfront, which wasn’t done till the nth hour,” she continued.

There’s absolutely no chance that if I have set a date and time for an event, I wouldn’t show up,” Sunny added.

But due to the lack of timely payment from their end, coupled with the fact that they fell short of finalizing the date, I bowed. I have other commitments in the past. These are time tested and we are shooting round the clock, putting ourselves at risk, to make sure the industry is back on its feet. Such slanderous claims and unethical behaviour on part of the event co-ordinators are deeply hurtful and unsolicited,” she said.

“I have already given a statement to the investigating officers and they are also investigating the coordinators. Let the law work its way, “she adds.

Sunny is currently in Thiruvananthapuram district, where she is” shooting for the new season of MTV Splitsvilla.”

According to a report, the event was “constantly being rescheduled, eventually colliding with her other work engagements”.

“Also, the fees were never paid in full. Rs. 12.50 lakh, which according to the agreement was to be paid seven days before the event, has not yet been approved. She, however, has graciously agreed to attend the event if it matches her schedule.”

The reports also claimed that there were around five other celebrities who backed out from the event due to similar experience with the organisers, which is currently being investigated.
