Supreme Court Issues Notice To ED Over Bail Plea Of Chidambaram In INX Media Case

Mumbai: Enforcement Directorate has received notice from the Supreme Court on the bail plea of senior Congress leader P Chidambaram in the INX Media money-laundering case.

While denying bail in the money laundering case filed by the ED, Chidambaram had approached the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court verdict.

The investigating agency has been asked to file a reply by Monday. The next date of hearing is 26 November.

A bench headed by the new Chief Justice of India SA Bobde on Monday ordered the bail plea to be listed.

The Delhi High Court on November 15 dismissed Chidambaram’s bail plea in the case filed by the ED, stating that prima facie charges against him were of a serious nature and he played an “active and significant role” in the crime.

Chidambaram, who was arrested by the ED on October 16 in a money laundering case, is currently in judicial custody till November 27 under a trial court order.

After this, the ED had registered a case of money laundering in this regard in the same year.
