Supreme Court Orders CBI Investigation In Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case

Mumbai: The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

While pronouncing the verdict the Supreme Court said that “FIR registered at Patna was correct. The state of Maharashtra refused the option to challenge the order.”

The apex court asked the Mumbai Police to hand over all the evidence collected so far in the case to the CBI. The state of Maharashtra denied the option to challenge the order, Justice Roy said.

A single-judge bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy also said that the Bihar government was competent to recommend the transfer of the case to the CBI.

The CBI has registered an FIR against Riya Chakraborty and others in the case of the actor’s death after the Center accepted the Centre’s recommendation to transfer the investigation of the case from Patna to the Bihar government.

An FIR was lodged in Patna on a complaint filed under sections related to suicide by Rajput’s father KK Singh. Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on 14 June.
