Supreme Court Rejected Bail Of Lalu Prasad Yadav In All 3 Cases of Fodder Scam

Mumbai: The Supreme Court rejected RJD chief Lalu Prasad bail in three cases related to multi-crore fodder scam. Before the Lok Sabha elections, the former Bihar Chief Minister had sought bail for leading his party on medical grounds.

In the three cases, Lalu Prasad Yadav has been convicted, he is related to a Rs 900 crore fodder scam, which was related to the fraud of money from treasury in the animal husbandry department in the early 1990s when Jharkhand was part of Bihar. In Bihar, the RJD was in power as chief minister, when the alleged scandal was done.

This development also comes in the form of a bullet in the hands of the CBI, who had filed a counter affidavit against Lalu’s bail petition on Tuesday and requested the top court to cancel it. The CBI said in its affidavit,“Simultaneous raising of pleas for bail on medical grounds and bail to guide the party and to carry out all essential responsibilities as a party president in ensuing Lok Sabha election are mutually contradictory and manifests that in the garb of bail on medical ground the petitioner, in essence, wants to pursue his political activities which are impermissible in law.”

The Central Bureau of Investigation said, “It is presented with the respect that if these allegations are allowed to be taken by the accused, even a businessman who is found guilty of corruption will be granted bail on this basis. It may take that he wants to do his business, the severity of the crime and the period for which he has been convicted. ”

Yadav was found guilty in third fodder scam case in January 2018. In March 2018 Special CBI Court convicted him in the fourth fodder scam case which is related to swindling of Rs. 3.13 crore from the Dumka treasury.

In Dumka Treasury case total Rs 60 lakh fine imposed (Rs 30 lakh under PC act and Rs 30 lakh under IPC) and 14 years’ imprisonment (7 years under IPC and 7 years under Prevention of Corruption Act) on Lalu Prasad Yadav in to run consecutively.
