Asaram, who was convicted on the charge of raping a minor girl, demanded to reduce his sentence of life imprisonment and sent a mercy petition to the Rajasthan governor demanding the same. Asaram cited his age and “gruesome” punishment and sought to reduce the sentence of his life.
