Supreme Court Waves Green Flag For Puri Rath Yatra, Says Now It’s Up To Odisha Govt

Mumbai: Days after saying that if Rath Yatra will be conducted in the coronavirus situation, Lord Jagannath won’t forgive us, Supreme Court has now reversed it’s order and gave a nod on the famous Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra.

After thousands of signed petitions and the Centre’s urge to repel its order on banning the Yatra, the top court said on Monday that Puri Rath Yatra will be held with coordination of the Temple committee, State, and Central govt without compromising with the current health issue.

Rath Yatra is a famous tradition of Odisha, and if the Lord Jagannath cannot come out of the temple tomorrow, they cannot come out for 12 years, said Tushar Mehta, representative of the Central Government in SC.

Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik will hold a preparatory meeting for the yatra at 5 pm today in Bhubaneswar. SC has left it in the hands of the state government about how to hold the yatra with proper precautions.
