Mumbai: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar slammed Mumbai Police on Tuesday for not cooperating with the Bihar Police team is investigating actor Sushant Singh Rajput‘s suicide case.
Talking to Times Now, the Bihar CM expressed regret that the Bihar Police is not getting support from Mumbai Police in the investigation.
He said that Bihar Police is investigating the suicide case in Mumbai without any external help.
Nitish Kumar said that the Bihar Police suggested that the case should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and he has duly recommended the case to the investigative body for an expansive probe.
Following the reports, before sending the police team to Mumbai, they should have consulted with Uddhav Thackeray, Nitish Kumar said that an FIR has been lodged in the case and it is the legal duty of the police to initiate an investigation after registering an FIR.
Nitish Kumar said, “This is not a political issue and there was no need for me to discuss this with the CM of Maharashtra. The Bihar Police is working on its own and the Bihar government has no contribution in it.”
He went on to add, “The team of Bihar Police has suggested that the matter should be handed over to the CBI and I have already made this recommendation to the Central government.”
Earlier in the day, late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh spoke to Nitish Kumar and asked him to order for a CBI investigation following which the Bihar government has recommended that the case be handed over to CBI soon.
Notably, all eyes will be on the supreme court as the petition filed by Rhea Chakraborty which says the case should not involve Bihar police and handed it to Mumbai police completely, will be tabled tomorrow.
