Mumbai: Shiv Sena on Thursday said that the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has been politicized to “discredit” the Mumbai Police and the Maharashtra government.
It is surprising that even though the court found nothing wrong in the Mumbai Police investigation, the case has been handed over to the CBI, the Sena said in an editorial in the party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’.
The Mumbai Police’s investigation into the case was in the final stages when it was stopped and handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the recommendation of the Bihar government, Sena further stated.
It states that many criminal cases in Bihar were investigated by the CBI. How many actual criminals arrested CBI again? Sushant’s case was politicized only to discredit the Mumbai Police and the Maharashtra government.
The Shiv Sena said that the Mumbai police were investigating why Rajput committed suicide.
“It is an illusion that only the CBI or Bihar Police can disclose the truth. There is no loss to the CBI in handling any case from any state. But it would be an encroachment of the rights of the state.”
The Uddhav Thackeray-led party said, “If tears are shed in the Indian constitution today, it is seen that the release of a Bihar Police officer in Mumbai creates suspicion, due to which the case would have been handed over to the CBI.”
The 34-year-old Rajput was found hanged in his apartment in suburban Bandra on 14 June, and since then the Mumbai Police has been investigating the case keeping in view various angles.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the transfer of the FIR registered against actress Rhea Chakraborty and others in Patna allegedly to the CBI for Rajput’s suicide.
The apex court said the Bihar government is competent to transfer the case to the CBI for investigation.
