Tamil Nadu Reports 1,562 New COVID19 Cases, State Tally Reaches To 33,229

Mumbai: Tamil Nadu reported 1,562 new coronovirus cases and 17 deaths on Monday, bringing the number of infections to 33,229 and the toll to 286.

According to the Bulletin of the Health Department, the number of fresh cases is 1,149 in Chennai and 23,298 in the state capital.

Tamil Nadu, which has recently been reporting over 1,000 cases on a daily basis, recorded 1,515 infections on Sunday and today the count of 1,562 is a new high.

While the state tally was 33,229, the active cases are 15,413.

To date, 528 people have been discharged, while cumulatively 17,527 patients have been recovered.

The government said that 14 of the 17 dead had co-morbidities.
