IPL’s governing council decided to replace the IPL title sponsors in a meeting convened on Tuesday. “Yes, Tata group is coming in as IPL title sponsor,” IPL chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed the development to PTI.

The IPL Governing Council is also set to decide on the modalities of the IPL mega auction for the upcoming season today. There are speculations that the mega auction of IPL 2022 will be held in Bengaluru in the second week of February. IPL 2022 is also bringing in two more new teams, making the cash-rich tournament a 10-team affair.

The possible venues and match dates for the 15th season are under threat due to rising cases of coronavirus and new pressure from Omicron. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to finalize the date and venue of the mega auction.
