Telangana To Conduct 40,000 COVID19 Tests Daily

Mumbai: An official release said that the Telangana government has decided to conduct 40,000 COVID-19 tests daily and 10,000 oxygen beds are ready across the state.

An official release issued on Wednesday night said that the cabinet led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday discussed the spreading of coronavirus, treatment given to those affected by it, and strengthening the public health system.

The cabinet also decided to take strict action against private hospitals, which indulged in irregularities while giving treatment to COVID-19 patients.

“For those providing free medical services in private medical colleges, the government will bear the expenses for medicines, injections, and food … The concerned authorities are directed to conduct 40,000 tests per day,” it said.

The cabinet resolved that the positive testers would be kept in house quarantine along with house isolation kits and it was decided to keep 10 lakh household isolation kits ready for the purpose.

Urging people not to be concerned about the virus and to attend private hospitals, the cabinet said that the government hospitals were equipped with all facilities, medicines, specialist doctors and patients should use these services.

“The cabinet also clarified that the government is ready to spend any amount to ensure medicines, equipment, and facilities in government hospitals.”

The government decided to make available the availability of Remedisvir, low molecular weight heparin, dexamethasone injections, Favipiravir tablets, other medicines, PPE kits, and test kits abundantly in all government hospitals.

Telangana Health Minister Etela Rajender and Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar will hold a videoconference with the collectors on Thursday and find out their requirements for their respective districts and take necessary decisions.
