Terrorist Who Shot Bank Manager In Kulgam, Killed In Encounter

Mumbai: One out of the two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists, who were killed on Wednesday in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian, was involved in the killing of Vijay Kumar, a bank manager from the Kulgam, Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.

According to Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, “One of the slain terrorists has been identified as Jaan Mohammad Lone of Shopian. Among other terrorist crimes, he was involved in the recent killing of Vijay Kumar, bank manager on June 2 in Kulgam district”.

Notably, Vijay was posted as manager at Elkwai Dehati Bank (EDB), a Srinagar-headquartered regional rural bank sponsored by SBI. It is located at Areh Mohanpora in the Kulgam district.

In a tweet earlier today, the Kashmir Zone Police had said: “ShopianEncounterUpdate: 02 terrorists linked with proscribed #terror outfit LeT killed. Identification is being ascertained. Further details shall follow.”

According to the Kashmir Zone Police, the encounter took place on Wednesday at Kanjiular in Shopian. This operation was done jointly by Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces.

Earlier on Tuesday, an encounter took place in the Bemina area of ​​Srinagar in which two terrorists were killed.

The terrorists were linked to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). A police officer was also injured in the encounter.
