Mumbai: An official said on Friday that apart from 254 new coronovirus cases, the number of infections in Thane district of Maharashtra increased to 2,54,896.
New cases surfaced on Thursday.
He said that due to the infection of three more patients, the death toll in the district increased to 6,168.
The official said that the death rate of COVID-19 was 2.42 per cent.
He said that 2,45,504 patients have recovered from the infection so far, showing a recovery rate of 96.32 per cent.
The official said that there are currently 3,224 active cases in the district.
The neighbouring Palghar district has recorded 45,278 COVID-19 cases and 1,190 deaths so far, another official said.
