“The Gandhi Murder” Will Not Be Released In India, Producer Lakshmi R Iyer Recieves Threats

Pune : Film ‘The Gandhi Murder’ is all set to hit the silver screen on 30th January but its release in India has been canceled, as per media reports the producers of the film are receiving threats saying not to release the film in India.

“The Gandhi Murder” which was planned to release on Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary all over the world, has underwent a halt towards release in the country as special elements have threatened the producers of the film. This film raises a disputed topic. Recalling which, January 30, 1948 was the date when Gandhiji was murdered by Nathuram Godse.

Film producer Lakshmi R. Iyer said to IANS, “We have decided not to release ‘The Gandhi Murder’ in India, India is a big market, and there are people of all kinds. Unfortunately, some elements have threatened the producer and director, Including the physical threat of harm.”

This movie, co-directed by Karim Tradia and UAE based director Pankaj Sehgal, puts the makers’ thinking on the real truth behind the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, 1948. Iyer stated, “The central film certification board approved it last year, it is not biased in any form, if the Indians are more keen on knowing the truth, then it is not the right time.”

The film includes American actor Stephen Lang and other than the late actor Om Puri. When asked about the threat, they said, “These people are unknown and make calls from unknown numbers. Threat sources can very well extract the families of the directors and producers and are also acquainted with other businesses.”
