Three Arrested For Casting Communal Abuses

Mumbai: The police on Wednesday arrested three boys for allegedly hurling religious abuses at an autorickshaw driver in Vikhroli and assaulting him.

Late on Tuesday, auto driver Azruddin Qureshi filed a police complaint saying that when he was ferrying passengers from Vikhroli to Bhandup via Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road, three minors on a bike stopped him.

He said that on seeing his skull cap, the boys told him to “go to Pakistan”, hurled abuses at him and assaulted him.

The police booked the boys under IPC sections for wrongful confinement, assault, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace and uttering words to hurt religious feelings. They were sent to juvenile custody.

Religious violence and extremism, also called communal violence, is a term that covers all phenomena where religion is either the subject or object of violent behaviour.
