TN Govt To Ban Online Games Played With Money: CM Palaniswami

Mumbai: Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu K. Palaniswami said on Thursday that the state government was taking steps to ban online games like a rumor.

Talking to reporters in Coimbatore, he said that many people have committed suicide due to online rummy, with the government taking steps to ban online games played with money stakes.

Palaniswami said that the law would be drafted in such a manner that would conduct such online games and the participants would be considered criminals and given jail sentences.

He said the government has received representation from various quarters to ban online rummy and will take necessary action.

Palaniswami said that at a time when internet usage is spreading very fast, some people and especially the youth, are spoiling their lives by playing online rummy which sometimes leads to their suicide.
