Top Jaish-e-Mohammed Commander Killed In Encounter In Jammu & Kashmir

The encounter broke out after the militant opened fired in retaliation

Mumbai: The Jammu & Kashmir Police on Wednesday neutralized a top JeM Commander Terrorist in the encounter at Tilwani Mohalla in the Tral area of Awantipora.

The IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar informed that the terrorist killed in the encounter was a top JeM (Jaish-e-Mohammed) commander identified as Sham Sofi.

Acting on specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in Tilwani Mohalla Waggad in the Tral area of Awantipora, in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, security forces launched a cordon and search operation there, a police official said reported by Indian Express.

The encounter broke out after the militants opened fire in retaliation. In the encounter, the terrorist was killed.

“Top JeM Commander #terrorist Sham Sofi killed in Tral #Encounter,” the IGP said on Kashmir Zone Police’s Twitter handle.

In the recent few days, a lot of terrorist activists have been taking place in the state.

Two schoolteachers, including the principal and teacher Deepak Chand, were shot dead by militants at a government school on October 7.
