Toxic Advance Booking: Yash Starrer Crosses Rs 18 Crore, Outpaces Jawan, Animal and Dhurandhar 2

Mumbai: Yash’s much-awaited action drama Toxic has set the box office buzzing even before its theatrical release. The Geetu Mohandas directorial began its advance booking on Friday, August 21, and has recorded a strong response across India, signalling the possibility of a massive opening on August 26.

The film, which has been mounted as a pan-India spectacle, has reportedly crossed Rs 18 crore in advance bookings within 48 hours. More than 4.7 lakh tickets have been sold across languages, with the Kannada original and Hindi dubbed version driving much of the early momentum.

Toxic Advance Booking Surges Ahead of Release

Advance ticket sales for Toxic opened around 6 am on Friday, with national cinema chains joining the booking process later in the day.

The response was immediate, with the film witnessing substantial demand across major ticket-booking platforms. By Sunday morning, Toxic was reportedly selling around 10,000 tickets per hour on BookMyShow, despite being several days away from its theatrical release.

The film’s Kannada version has emerged as a major contributor, generating around Rs 10 crore in advance gross bookings according to the figures being reported.

Hindi Version Shows Strong Demand

While Yash’s fan base in Karnataka was always expected to drive the opening, the performance of the Hindi version of Toxic has reportedly exceeded initial industry expectations.

By Sunday morning, the Hindi version had generated around Rs 8 crore in advance bookings for its opening day, reflecting Yash’s growing popularity in the Hindi-speaking market following the success of the KGF franchise.

The strong response has raised expectations that Toxic could compete strongly with major Hindi releases during its opening period.

Toxic Beats Jawan, Animal and Dhurandhar 2 in Early Ticket Sales

The film’s first-day advance booking pace has also attracted attention because of its comparison with several recent blockbusters.

Toxic reportedly sold close to 2.5 lakh tickets across India within its first 24 hours. This figure puts it ahead of the reported first-day advance ticket sales of several major films:

  • Toxic: Nearly 2.5 lakh tickets
  • Jawan: Around 1.5 lakh tickets
  • Dhurandhar 2: Around 1.3 lakh tickets
  • Animal: Around 55,000 tickets

The Hindi version of Toxic alone reportedly sold around 60,000 tickets within 24 hours, exceeding the corresponding figure attributed to Animal.

The figures indicate the scale of anticipation surrounding Yash’s latest release, although final opening-day collections will depend on occupancy, ticket pricing, show count and performance across individual markets.

Yash’s Pan-India Appeal Drives Toxic Buzz

Yash’s popularity expanded significantly beyond the Kannada film industry following the phenomenal success of the KGF franchise.

Toxic marks his next major theatrical release and has generated considerable interest because of its large-scale production, ensemble cast and distinctive visual presentation.

The film is directed by Geetu Mohandas and features Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria alongside Yash.

Toxic Gets A Certificate From CBFC

Toxic has also generated headlines over its content. The film reportedly received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) without cuts.

The movie has been discussed extensively online for its intimate sequences and imagery involving women, adding to the curiosity surrounding the project.

Despite the controversy, the film’s advance booking trend suggests that audience interest remains strong.

Toxic Release Date

Toxic is scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 26 in multiple languages.

With advance bookings already crossing the Rs 18 crore mark and ticket sales accelerating several days before release, the Yash-starrer is entering its opening week with significant momentum.

The key question now is whether the film can convert its impressive pre-release ticket demand into a record-breaking opening at the box office.
