Tripura Reports 280 COVID19 Positive Cases, State Tally Rose To 8,389

Mumbai: At least 280 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripura, which pushes Cassilad to 8,389 in the northeast state, a senior health department official said here on Saturday.

He said another person succumbed to the infection, killing 70 people.

According to the official, the patient, resident of West Tripura district, breathed his last at Agartala Government Medical College here on Friday.

There are currently 2,240 active cases in Tripura.

The official said 6,061 people died of the disease, 410 on Friday.

Eighteen people have moved to other states.

A total of 2,37,753 samples have been tested so far for COVID-19 in Tripura.

Meanwhile, with a record spike of 69,874 infections in a single day, India’s COVID-19 tally rose to 29,75,701, while recoveries rose to 22,22,577, raising the recovery rate on Saturday according to data from the Union Health Ministry 74.69 percent.

The death toll rose to 55,794, with 945 deaths in a 24-hour interval, updated at 8 am.

In the COVID-19 case, the death rate has come down to 1.87 percent.
