Two Girls Sexually Abused In Jharkhand, One Dies

Mumbai: Two minor girls were allegedly sexually and physically abused in Chatra district of Jharkhand, one of whom succumbed to her injuries and the other is in critical condition, PTI reported.

Officials told to PTI, “The incident occurred when two girls, aged 10 and eight years old, had gone to the Kirigada forest under Piparawar police station limits to collect firewood on Wednesday.”

One person has been arrested over the incident, a police officer said.

However, when the three children did not return by noon, family members and villagers reported the matter to the police, who began their search.

The official said the eight-year-old boy was found seriously injured due to physical assault and was admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi.

The boy told investigators that the accused beat up the three children and kidnapped two girls and took them into the forest.

On further search, police on Thursday found the two girls and admitted them to the Primary Health Center, where one of them was declared dead and the other was referred to RIMS.

“Prima facie, it appears to be a case of sexual exploitation and murder,” he said, adding an FIR has been filed in this regard.

Police are questioning some other suspects in the case, he added.
